Sewaren is a small unincorporated community located in Woodbridge Township, Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. It is located on the southern banks of the Arthur Kill, opposite Staten Island, and is approximately 20 miles south of Newark and 28 miles southwest of New York City. The area is primarily residential but also has some industrial facilities including a power plant, a waste treatment plant, and an oil refinery. The Sewaren beach is a popular recreational spot for fishing and bird-watching, and a marina provides boat access to the Arthur Kill. The population of Sewaren is approximately 2,200 people according to the 2010 U.S. Census.
